Alan & Angelic

This was my first full-day wedding with the ceremony starting before noon and the celebrations carrying on until well past midnight. The venue was "India House" located on Bastiaanskloof Estate, where I also shot John and Caroline's wedding a year or so before. Alan and Angelic are both nature loving people and the surrounding mountains and valley added to the beauty of the day. The guests and family met at India House in the morning after which they all embarked together on a 20min hike into the valley to where the ceremony was to take place. Alan and Angelic followed shortly in their footsteps to meet up at the gazibo where everyone was awaiting their arrival.

There were three cleansing rituals throughout the ceremony that involved the burning or "smudging" of herbs, each and every guest washing hands in a bowl with refreshing water that contained rose petals, and the use of "singing bowls". Gifts were also exchanged between the guests and the bride and groom. The guests took turns in sharing fond memories and good wishes for the bride and groom.  What especially made a lasting impression on me was the speech given by Angelic's father.

The day was filled with a strong sense of family and friendship and I feel privileged to have been a part of this. It was already way past midnight when Mieke and I left but Alan and Angelic was still showing no signs of stopping their celebrations on the dance floor. :-)

The pictures below gives a good overall feel of the day and are also the pages used to make up their wedding album....
